NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women’s basketball team (1-0) will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 17, when they host Jackson State (1-0) at 7 p.m. CT inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave will be looking to start 2-0 for the sixth straight year.

The Olive and Blue kicked off their 2015-16 campaign with an emphatic 69-53 victory over the visiting Little Rock Trojans, who in 2015, finished first in the Sun Belt and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. As a result, head coach Lisa Stockton improved to 18-4 in season openers as the Wave won their 11th straight opener as well.

All 12 rostered players saw minutes last Friday, with six newcomers all making their respective Green Wave debuts. Making the most of her first game in a Tulane uniform was freshman Taylor Emery, who tallied 11 points on a team best five made field goals. However, not to be outdone, were returners Leslie Vorpahl and Kolby Morgan, who recorded 14 and 12 points, respectively.

The Wave will certainly hope to continue their success from the free throw line achieved in the opening victory vs. Little Rock. Tulane converted 22 free throws that night, already tying their season high from last year.

Standing in their way from a 2-0 start are the Jackson State Tigers, who defeated NAIA school Mobile 100-57 on Saturday. Jackson State shot 52.6 percent from the field, including an impressive 8-of-15 mark from three-point range. The Tigers were paced by 26 points from Derica Wiggins and 14 points from Krystal Nailer.

JSU is predicted to finish fifth in the SWAC this season and is coached by third year head coach Surina Dixon, who boasts a 38-48 record at the helm of the program.

Tulane and Jackson State have met twice in their all-time series, with the Green Wave claiming both victories by an average margin of 29.5 points.

Tickets are $5 for end court and $10 for side court. For more information, fans can call (504) 861-WAVE (9283) or visit the ticket office located on the first floor of the James W. Wilson Jr. Center.
