April 1st marks the beginning of National Poetry Month and this year WRBH is celebrating our most lauded form of written word with a couple of events! The poet T.S. Eliot may have called April “…the cruelest month,” but we’re trying to make him reconsider his stance with these:

WRBH’s First Annual Poetry Contest

What better way to celebrate poetry than by writing some! WRBH welcomes everyone to submit either an audio recording of or a word document containing an ORIGINAL POEM for our first annual Poetry Competition! After concocting a lovely recording or written verse, you must email them to listen@wrbh.org by 12:01 PM on Monday, April 20th. All ages are welcome to contribute and there are no limitations on length or content, but everyone who enters must “like” WRBH Reading Radio on Facebook to be eligible.

The winners will be announced Thursday, March 23rd and will get a chance to record their poems at WRBH’s Station, meet the staff and have their poems played on the air and uploaded on our Soundcloud page.  If you have any questions or concerns please email david@wrbh.org.

Local Poets On WRBH’s Midday Poetry

All throughout April, the East Bank Regional Library will be showcasing local poets at a series of readings. Starting this Wednesday, April 1st we will host some of these talented readers on our Midday Poetry program (at 12:30PM) where they will share their work and give you a preview of what to expect at the library reading. Be monitoring our  Facebook page (www.facebook.com/wrbh883) for more details!

and as always…

Tune in to 88.3FM (or our internet stream) and we’ll be looking forward to your response!
